Gorgeous week here in Yosemite.  River reflection of Half Dome in the early evening.  Juan is teaching a very full class in the Yosemite Valley.  Will post today's painting this afternoon.

Juan's new workshops and free demonstrations

The last landscape class of this eight week session is Friday NOT SATURDAY.  
We will be painting on-location in front of the Sierra Vista Community Center.


Watercolor Landscape Workshop

May 16,17 &18, 2014. In this three day workshop (9 - noon & 1 PM to 3:30 PM) you will receive the equivalent of eight morning classes. This workshop will feature becoming an artist and what is needed to be an on-location landscape painter.  You will learn how to psych yourself to paint a work of art.

Three day workshop fee $120.00, drop-ins one day $70.00 or two days $100.00.  

FREE watercolor demonstrations:

May 12th, 2014, WASH demo at 1:30 PM at the Gibbons Center, 4701 Gibbons Drive, Carmichael

May 15th 2014, 7:00 to 9:30 PM, at Juan’s new studio in Colfax, Sierra Vista Community Center, 55 School St. Colfax, CA.



Oil Portrait Workshop

May 30, 31 & June 1, 2014.  This workshop is a skill building seminar.  You will work from a live model.  You will also learn how to draw a portrait and what colors are needed for mixing skin tones.

Some drawing ability is necessary for this class.  Juan will show a simple way to draw and paint the human head, neck and shoulders.

Three day workshop free $150.00.

The benefit of thinking of design with color.
March 22, Class 5
Thinking your way through a painting with Juan’s formula.
March 29, Class 6
Why a foreground & how Juan’s formula helps.
April 5, Class 7 
Why a middle ground & how Juan’s formula helps.
April 12, Class 8
Why paint with three ground plains & how Juan’s formula helps.

$160 for the 8 session classes.  Class meets from 9 am to noon.

Question from an art student:

Hello Juan. Impressionism is an art style interesting me most of all.No detal just impression.
My question is;If i tred to paint in  split-compementory color system ,tell me please would it be correct to use other colors out of this sistem as  incydential colors?.How do  you do it?

Juan painting at the Aspen Plein Air Event

Gorgeous country here in the Aspen, Colorado area.  We are hosted in a beautiful home surrounded by beautiful mountains.  What a sunset!  Will be showing some of my watercolors soon.
